Junior Selection at Patiala

Sub. : Open Selection Trials (Juniors) for selecting Campers for the forthcoming Junior National Coaching Camps and Indian Judo Team for the 2nd Asian Youth and 9th Asian Junior Judo Championships -2008.

Judo Federation of India is holding an Open Selection Trials on 11th May 2008 (Sunday) at Judo Hall, Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports (NS NIS), old Moti Bagh, Patiala, Punjab; to select the Campers for the forthcoming Junior National Coaching Camp and Indian Judo Team for the 2nd Asian Youth and 9th Asian Junior Judo Championships -2008.

The 2nd Asian Youth and 9th Asian Junior Judo Championships will be held from 1st to 6th July 2008 in Yemen.

The following important points may please be noted for the trials:

1. The Selection trials will start from 8.00 a.m. onwards on 11th May 2008 at Judo Hall, NS NIS Patiala.

2. The official weigh-in will be held from 6.a.m. to 7.a.m. at Judo Hall, NS NIS Patiala.

3. Weight Categories and Age Limits for the both events are as under:
A. 2nd Asian Youth Judo Championships:
Age Limit : Boys and Girls must be above 12 years and under 16 years (must be born between 1993 and 1996)
Weight Categories are :
Boys : -42kg , -46kg, -50kg, -55kg , -60kg, -66kg & +66kg (max. 90kg)
Girls : -40kg, -44kg , -48kg, -52kg, -57kg, - 63kg & +63kg (max. 78kg)

B. 9th Asian Junior Judo Championships :
Age Limit : Men and Women must be above 16 years and under 20 years (must be born between 1989 and 1992)
Weight categories are :
For Boys : –55Kg, -60Kg, -66Kg, -73Kg, -81Kg, -90Kg, -100Kg & +100Kg.
For Girls : -45Kg, -48Kg, -52Kg, -57Kg, -63kg, -70Kg, -78Kg & +78Kg.


4. All such Players who are below 18 years of age; must submit the undertaking by Parents/Guardian; before the trials.

5. Without a valid Passport, players will not be allowed to participate in the trials, and the passport must have the validity of minimum 6 months after the events (i.e. till December 2008).

6. A player can participate in One Weight Category only. However, more than one player can participate in each weight category from one State/Unit, as there is no limit for participation of players in each category in the trials.

7. Participation is allowed only through affiliated State Associations/Department Units .

8. The Players should come prepared to join the Coaching Camp, if he/she is selected. No leave will be granted during the Coaching Camp. In case of not reporting as above, the Judoka will be replaced by the second one without any information/notice.

9. The camp (for Boys & Girls) will start from 12th May 2008 at NS NIS Patiala.

10. A fee of Rs.150/- (Rupees One hundred and Fifty only) per player is payable for participating in the selection trials as Entry Fee.

11. The participants will participate at his/her own risk. Judo Federation of India is not responsible for any kind of injury/accidents during the trials.

12. All the expenses (i.e. Boarding, Loading, Traveling etc.) are to be borne by the Individuals/State Association/Departmental Units, to participate in the selection trials.

13. The decision of the selection committee will be treated as final.

14. Only JFI Registered players can participate in the above trials. Those who are not registered, must be registered before the selection trials. The Registration fee is Rs.100/- (Rupees One hundred only)

15. Dope test will be carried over soon after the trials.

16. Please clearly explain the above conditions to your player/s before sending him/her/them to participate in the selection trials.
